We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Director of Global Supply Chain & Sustainability to help support our Work Furniture business. We design, develop, manufacture, and distribute a wide range of components and finished products that enhance comfort, motion, and style in the work and home furniture industry.  From surface-critical bent tube assemblies and molded plywood components to chair mechanisms, bases, arms, seats, and backs, Leggett & Platt Work Furniture Group brings diverse world-class manufacturing capabilities together in the production and assembly of high-quality products.  If you join our team, your work will ensure people across the world have a little more comfort in their lives.

As the Director of Global Supply Chain & Sustainability, you will be responsible for developing a supply strategy that aligns with the overall business strategy. This will involve leading supplier sustainability and compliance capability efforts, as well as coordinating purchases of like-items across the business unit. In addition, you will be responsible for sourcing and qualifying vendors for these purchases, negotiating the best possible cost and quality for the sourced items, and managing raw material inventory days of inventory (DIO) in collaboration with the operations team.

So, what will you be doing as Director of Global Supply Chain & Sustainability?

Leading the direction of sustainability and compliance efforts for the global supply network and branch purchasing.
Developing and directing supplier diversity initiatives to support the strategic direction of the WF Group.
Negotiating pricing, quality, lead times, and other terms with key mutual vendors.
Leading the search for strategic new vendors in collaboration with branch purchasing.
Leading vendor negotiations and collaborating with L&P Legal to establish strategic supply agreements.
Collaborating with L&P corporate purchasing and cross-business unit purchasing as needed.
Leading the sourcing of new products as required by the Innovation and Commercialization teams.
Assisting the Work Furniture Business Unit President, VP of Operations, or VP of Seating Innovation with strategic projects as necessary.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

Bachelor’s Degree preferred – a degree majoring in Supply Chain Management is also valued.
At least 5 years of experience in supply chain or vendor management, with a demonstrated progression of responsibility.
Previous experience in multi-site and/or large-scale manufacturing environments is preferred.
A deep understanding of stage-gate project management is essential.
